Uniwell DX895 EPOS terminals have been linked up with sQuid cashless cards to speed up service for Cafe Athena at Bolton University.

Cafe Athena is located on the Eagle Campus at Bolton University and is a popular meeting place for students, serving Cafe Direct Fair Trade coffees, teas and hot chocolate etc. Cafe Athena had already embraced the sQuid cashless payment system but the university required a quick and reliable epos system that would integrate with it, the Uniwell DX895 was the perfect choice.

The Uniwell sQuid integration has removed cashing off mistakes and made for easier and faster transactions times, which has dramatically increased the number of customers moving through the pay point. Speed of service has been further enhanced by Uniwell's DX895 touch screen terminals which allows the Cafe Athena menu to be displayed at the touch of a button on the EPOS terminals.

The sQuid service is based around a smartcard used for contactless payment. Customers top-up the free pre paid card using it at enabled tills. sQuid is much more flexible than bank card or other loyalty schemes and significantly cheaper for retailers than many other cashless system. It has been specifically designed to replace cash transactions in fast retail environments.

The DX895 epos terminal is intuitive and easy to use with a compact touch screen, making operations very quick and easy for staff. With no hard disk drive, no moving parts and solid state memory these epos terminals keep failure rates to a minimum. Installation was completed by Uniwell reseller NWBM.
